How Silhouette InstaLift works

A Silhouette Lift targets the deep layers of skin on a patient’s face and neck. The procedure uses threads that are composed of from polyglycolide/L-lactide (PLGA). These threads go through the facial skin, lifting sagging skin and stimulating new collagen growth as they are “threaded” through. The results are immediate and get even better over time.

What are the “threads” made of?

Silhouette InstaLift is made from polyglycolide/L-lactide (PLGA). PLGA is a well-recognized biomedical copolymer. It has been used for many years in surgery, and is well known for its ability to be absorbed naturally in the body. Once the sutures are inserted under the facial skin, PLGA acts by stimulating fibroblasts, followed by collagen production.

PGLA continuously performs this action, and it will help tighten the jowls and neck and restore the youthful shape of your face gradually and naturally. The threads cannot be felt at all after the procedure. 

Silhouette InstaLift treatment details

A Silhouette Lift treatment is performed on an outpatient basis. Treatments typically take 30 to 45 minutes. Before the procedure, your face will be marked to guide your specialist. You will be given local anesthesia for the areas on your face where the thread will enter and exit, and then your face will be prepped with sterile solution.

The sides of your face will be threaded individually. Dr. Sharlow will use a needle to make an insertion point in the mid-face. From here, the threads will be pulled until they exit near the hairline.
